Dr. Katie Vanden Hull is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian passionate about delivering exceptional care to companion animals. A native of Papillion, Nebraska, Dr. Vanden Hull earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Kansas State University, graduating summa cum laude in 2013.

With a special interest in wellness, surgery, and supportive care, Dr. Vanden Hull is committed to helping dogs and cats overcome illness while prioritizing client education and empowerment. She strives to foster a collaborative relationship with pet owners, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their family's health.

Dr. Vanden Hull has been a small animal veterinarian in the Omaha metro area for the past 11 years and was medical director of a busy multi-location practice for the past 4 years before pursuing her goal of becoming a practice owner. 

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Vanden Hull values time with her loving family, including her husband, two children, and loyal hunting poodle, Zoey. She enjoys outdoor activities with her kids, playing sports, & reading.

Dr. Nick Hellbusch was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Westside High School and stayed in-state for college by attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated with honors. He then attended Nebraska-Iowa State’s 2+2 veterinary medicine program, graduating in 2018. 

Out of vet school, he worked at a busy practice in Omaha, where he met Dr. Katie as a colleague and mentor. Working in the same location made it easy to quickly register an opinion or suggest a way to look at something differently. It allowed the two to work seamlessly in concert to handle whatever was thrown at them most effectively. Eventually, in 2021, Dr. Nick joined Dr. Katie at Heartland Pet Hospital, where she was the medical director, to continue collaborating and advancing his skills. Dr. Nick professionally focuses on making the most out of each experience with his patients, working to meet at their level and keep stress low. Clients find Dr. Nick easy to work with and understand, making collaborating on their fur family’s health easy.

When not at work, Dr. Nick enjoys spending time with his fiancé Amber and their pets (Kelli, a German Shepherd Mix; Weston, a mixed breed; Dexter, a Doberman Pinscher; and Louis, a domestic shorthair), golfing, kayaking, and cheering on the Huskers.
